The family-owners of this charming little hidaway apparently live on the property and couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating, always available and helpful--not something you get in a larger resort staffed by employees. Our cabin was cozy, comfortable and immaculate; we were ensconsed in knotty pine. We visited at the end of August so the lake was mercifully quiet, not over run with motor boats or jet skis (can't promise mid-July would be so peaceful)--the happy squeals and splashes of children diving off the raft or dock were the only breaks in tranquility. This seems to be a great place for families with active children; but also for individuals who want to melt into a big lawn chair with warm sand under your feet, sun on your face, wind in your hair and the gentle lullaby of waves lapping the shore in your ears. The grounds and postage stamp sand beach were floral and well maintained; the complimentary kayaks and paddleboats were more fun than I like to admitt during the day, and the campfire under the stars and moonglow on the lake at night--wow. We are not fishers, but witnessed ample evidence (from the families deboarding the pontoons a couple times a day with heavy stringers), that there are some respectable sized fishes still taking the bait in Rush Lake. The only drawback was that we had not realized that most of the cabins were double bungalows, which meant you share a wall and front porch with another family. Our neighbors and their children were lovely, so it was not a problem but something to be aware of when booking. We look forward to coming back!
